Working gloves must provide outstanding protection as well as comfort. Therefore, there are ongoing researches and developments regarding various materials. As developing new materials require advanced technology and experience in the field, there are not a lot of manufacturers producing high-quality materials throughout the world. MUVEEN is self-investing in material development and has a dense network of partners manufacturing high quality materials as well.

Materials of a glove can be divided into threads used in knitting and coating materials. Threads, which need to provide a high level of protection strength, are usually made from para-aramid and high-performance polyethylene (HPPE), both of which are mainly used for bulletproof body armors. Para-aramid is better known as the trademark Kevlar, while HPPE is better known as Dyneema. Nitrile rubber is widely employed as a coating material adding comfortable usability and various functions. The following are more detailed description of the materials.

Thread Materials

1) Polyester: A synthetic fabric which doesn’t easily tear thanks to its strength and high durability. It is waterproof and highly wearproofand is widely employed in cut level 3 products. Products using this material are ideal for works in construction or hardware industries.

2) Nylon: Commonly called polyamide, this synthetic fabric is very strong and finds much usage as a waterproof material thanks to its low absorption rate. It is applicable to cut level 3 products and provides nice touch and comfortable usability. This material is mainly used in working gloves for electronics, assembly industries and works requiring handling of small objects.

3) Metal Mesh: This material provides superior strength with its stainless steel structure, providing a strength of cut level 5. The stainless rings form a mesh in an interlocking structure, making it highly resistant against cuts and punctures. The metal structure provides protection not only against cuts but also stabs.

4) HPPE (Dyneema): A very strong fabric made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, this material provides the best strength while also being very lightweight. HPPE provides 15 times protection than high-quality steel and is 40% stronger than regular aramids. It is very resistant against water and chemicals as well. The material is usually employed in level 5 products.

5) Para-aramid (Kevlar): Kevlar is a synthetic aramid fabric that provides high cut resistance and puncture protection. It provides flame resistance by nature, making it suitable for kitchens with high temperatures. It is about five times stronger than steel but lightweight, providing a great comfort. It is mainly used in food service and catering, glassworks, and automotive industries.

Coating Materials

1) Nitrile Rubber: Nitrile rubber is a synthetic rubber made from acrylonitrile and butadiene. It can withstand high temperatures and provides outstanding grip and protection to the gloves. It also has high chemical resistance and is less allergenic than natural rubber. The first step in manufacturing cut-protection gloves that provide superior protection and comfort is developing and securing outstanding materials. DEX FIT by MUVEEN is well aware of this importance, and thus we are always generously and actively investing in our materials. A Cut Level 5 Product cannot be made easily. Our products including Cru 533 are made from blending of HPPE, Spandex and glass fibers in optimal composition.

We will always try our best to develop better materials and create even better products with the materials. To make this a reality, we need your support. Thank you.
